Setup guide

GameDay Audio runs on your PC. Your phone is the remote. Set it up once and it opens like any other app.

Before you start

Why your network must be "Private"

Windows labels every network Public (coffee shops, airports: other devices can't connect to your PC) or Private (your home: devices you own can). Your phone connects to GameDay Audio on the PC, so Windows only allows it on a Private network. GameDay Audio stays closed to strangers on public Wi-Fi.

Windows often marks a new home network as Public. If yours is, the setup checklist shows "Your network is set to Public" with a button that opens the right Windows settings. Set Network profile type to Private. Only do this on your own home network.

By hand: Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi (or Ethernet) → your network → Network profile type → Private.

First time: follow the setup checklist

The first time GameDay Audio opens, it shows a setup checklist on your screen. Use the PC's mouse and keyboard to:

Why sign in again? GameDay Audio plays the game in its own Chrome profile, kept separate from your everyday Chrome, so your usual sign-ins, passwords and bookmarks aren't shared with it. You only sign in once; it remembers.

Click Finish setup when you're done. To reopen the checklist later, right-click the GameDay Audio icon in the taskbar tray and choose Setup checklist.

1 Find the address and code

The setup checklist (and the TV home screen, until a phone is paired) shows your own address and code. It looks like this:

ExampleOn your phone (same Wi-Fi) open http://192.168.1.25:8754 and enter 482913

Pairing another phone later? On the PC, right-click the GameDay Audio icon in the taskbar tray and choose Pair a phone… to see the address and a fresh code.

2 Add GameDay to your home screen

iPhone

  1. Open Safari and type the address from your TV.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Android

  1. Open Chrome and type the address from your TV.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen (or Install app), then Add.

3 Pair your phone

  1. Open the new GameDay icon on your home screen.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code from your TV and tap Pair.

Pair from the home-screen icon, not from the browser tab. On iPhone, the home-screen app is kept separate from Safari, so a phone paired in Safari has to pair again in the app.

You're set

Open GameDay from your home screen to pick a game, switch to Commercial or Music mode, and change volumes. Your phone stays paired; you only do this once.

Trouble?

The address won't load on my phone
Make sure GameDay Audio is open on the PC and your phone is on your home Wi-Fi, not mobile data. Then check your network is Private: open the setup checklist (tray icon → Setup checklist) and look at the network line, or see Why your network must be "Private" above.
The code didn't work
Each code works once, and a new code appears after too many wrong tries. Check the TV (or Pair a phone… on the PC) for the current code.
I don't see "Add to Home Screen" on iPhone
Use Safari, and look in the Share menu. You may need to scroll down the list.
